On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Ambassador Jakub Skalník, together with colleagues from European countries, Japan, the USA and Israel, laid a wreath at the memorial site at the former Dossin barracks in Mechelen.
From here, more than 25 000 Belgian Jews and more than 300 Belgian Roma and Sinti were deported to the Auschwitz death camp between 1942 and 1944.
