The Czech Republic has declared December 23, 2023, as a Day of national mourning

To honor the victims of the mass shooting in Prague, the Government of the Czech Republic has declared December 23, 2023, as a Day of national mourning.

According to the last information by the Czech Police, 14 people were killed and 25 wounded during the shooting in the building of the Charles University in Prague. No citizen of the United States has been injured during the incident. The gunman is dead and there is no other danger to citizens and tourists in Prague.


The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York thanks the Czech compatriots, members of the diplomatic community and the people of New York for expressing their support and sympathies.
