Czech Embassy in Islamabad participates at the Eurovillage 2024

Czechia’s involvement in Eurovillage 2024 at the Jinnah Convention Center held on 17th February represented a meaningful contribution to an event that celebrates European unity and diversity. This year, the Czech embassy took the initiative to create an engaging presence at the festival, inviting attendees to explore aspects of Czech culture and heritage through interactive activities and showcasing its contributions to recycling, as part of the general theme of Sustainable future at this year’s edition of Eurovillage.

One of the central attractions at our stall was the traditional Czech bowling game. This game, which involves swinging a wooden ball to knock down pins, offered a glimpse into Czech recreational practices in a manner that was accessible to participants of varying ages. The inclusion of this game was aimed at providing a fun and interactive way for people to engage with a piece of Czech culture, fostering a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

In addition to the bowling game, we organized a quiz that focused on various facets of Czech culture, history, and geography. The quiz was structured to encourage participants to deepen their understanding of Czechia, challenging them with eight questions that covered a broad range of topics, notwithstanding sustainability. The response to the quiz highlighted a genuine interest among attendees to learn more about Czechia, reflecting the educational value of such activities within the context of cultural festivals.

The prizes for the bowling and quiz winners were thoughtfully chosen to further celebrate Czech culture and its links with Pakistan. Winners received either a T-shirt with Czechia highlighted on a map of Europe or a book detailing the lives and achievements of notable women from both Czechia and Pakistan. These prizes were intended to serve not only as souvenirs from the event but also as educational tools that underscore the significant contributions of women to both societies, as well as to have a clear picture of Czechia’s geographical placement as the “heart of Europe.”

The Czech stall also had many videos displaying the marvelous destinations of CzechTourism’s #VisitCzechia, as well as Czech recycling solutions commensurate to the Eurovillage theme on Sustainable future.

We at the Czech Embassy in Islamabad are grateful to all who visited our stall, participated in our activities, and expressed interest in Czech culture. We will be looking forward to the next edition of the Eurovillage in Islamabad, and big thanks goes out to our colleagues from the EU Delegation and EU Member States.
