Minister Kasoulides announced re-opening of the Embassy of Cyprus in Prague in 2017

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ioannis Kasoulides, attended as the guest of honour the National Day reception of the Czech Republic. He appreciated the excellent relations and announced re-opening of the Cypriot Embassy in Prague in the early 2017.

National Day celebration was attended by many Cypriot politicians, business people, cultural personalities as well as members of diplomatic corps and Czech compatriots. Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Helena Bambasová, in her opening remarks reminded that the October 28 marks the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918. Tolerance, patience and good will to cooperate were the common basis of its existence for many decades. The same set of values is crucial for the successful outcome of the current peace talks and the re-unification of the island, Ambassador stressed.

Minister Kasoulides congratulated the Czech Republic on this happy occasion and announced the re-opening of the Embassy of Cyprus in Prague early next year. The Cypriot mission was closed temporarily as part of the austerity measures during the economic crisis. Both countries can be considered role model of recent economic recovery and the re-established level of diplomatic relations will demonstrate the ever existing excellent cooperation between both countries, Minister said.
