Participation of Czech companies at the SIAL 2018 Food Trade Show in Montréal

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ottawa, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, organized official participation of several Czech companies at the largest food fair in Canada. The SIAL Fair 2018 was held in Montréal, Québec in Le Palais des Congrés de Montréal on May 2-4, 2018. The event was realized within Projects for the Promotion of Economic Diplomacy (PROPED).
 

The SIAL Food Fair has been held in Canada every year since 2001. The attendance at SIAL 2018 has been based on a successful previous edition held in Toronto. Almost 50 countries from around the world exhibited their products at the SIAL in Montréalr. Over 18,000 visitors (mainly food industry experts, suppliers, importers and distributors) visited the fair. Among the most frequently presented products were beverages (beer, vegetable and fruit juices), pasta, sausages, cheeses, oils, bakery products, confectionery, food supplements, including food machinery and technology (for packaging, cooling, storing, beer producing and other).

SIAL tradeshow is the largest exhibition of innovations in the food industry in North America, which is why it was the most suitable place for introducing both innovative and traditional Czech foodstuff products.

Four companies were present at the Czech official booth – Marlenka Canada, Inc., EMCO Canada, Inc., Framospol, spol. s.r.o. / PragaSugar and company Perinne Group which was represented by the agency of Calgary CzechTrade. Laird Greenhields from the company of Mathieson Communication, supported present companies as an expert consultant that had previously arranged meetings with Canadian partners for Czech companies. Many meetings took place between Czech exhibitors and Canadian partners, interest in their products were recorded.
