South Korea's drone segment has been growing rapidly in recent years, helped by favorable government policies that target the development of the industry. The domestic drone market size grew from €48.7 million in 2016 to €342 million in 2020, accounting for 2% globally. The segment size in Korea is expected to reach up to EUR 699 million in 2025 and grow further. By 2028, the local market is estimated to comprise up to 60,000 of these machines. The range of applications for these assets in Korea is also growing. These include areas such as personnel rescue, logistics, construction, transport, infrastructure and even agriculture. It is here that the country is experiencing a surge in the use of these machines for pest control, seeding or crop monitoring. All of these facts also present opportunities for Czech companies that decide to enter the Korean market.

Drone Show Korea is Asia's largest drone fair, held annually in Busan, South Korea. This year, nearly 230 companies were on display. Among them were Korean Air, producing drones for military use, and Doosan Mobility Innovation with its hydrogen fuel cell machines. This year, space was dedicated to the military use of this technology, especially with regard to so-called standby munitions (also known as suicide drones). In a segment that many people might not associate with the Czech Republic, our country is surprisingly strong. This was evidenced by the large number of representatives of Czech entities, six of which came to Busan - from companies associated with the production of lightweight drone propellers to thermal imaging cameras for these devices. They were also supported by the Czech Ambassador Ivan Jančárek, who unveiled the national stand organised by CzechInvest/CzechTrade.
