Third Meeting of Czech Scientists in Stockholm

On April 11, 2024, another meeting of Czech scientists working in Sweden took place at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm.

The third edition of this event attracted 40 scientists from various fields and regions of Sweden. Presentations introduced Czech Academy of Sciences, the Czech Grant Agency, the  Czexpats in Science network and privately funded  Neuron Foundation.

Participants traveled from different parts of Sweden, from the southern Lund to the academic Uppsala and Gothenburg. Czech scientists in Sweden represent a diverse range of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, robotics, medicine, and for the first time this year, humanities.

An open panel discussion and lectures on the topic of science and research funding in the Czech Republic presented participants with current opportunities and challenges facing those considering returning to their homeland after working abroad. Discussions also revolved around the lack of a platform for sharing job offers and the possibilities for Czech scientists abroad to participate in project evaluations and grant applications.

The reception following the official program not only provided an opportunity to share experiences but also created an environment for personal meetings and the establishment of new scientific collaborations. Personal contact has been key to the successful development of cooperation in the past and is likely to continue into the future.

The meeting of Czech scientists in Stockholm not only confirms the importance of supporting the Czech scientific community in Sweden but also serves as a valuable platform for building bridges between Czech scientists at home and abroad. With each passing year, the number of participants increases, indicating its significance and the need for further collaboration development in the future.
