Screening of the movie "Happily Ever After"

On 14 June at 18:00, a screening of the Czech documentary movie "Happily Ever After" took place at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm. This movie was part of our Film Club, where we screen different kinds of movies every even month.

How many people does it take to love, and what forms can a relationship take? Jana Počtová's longitudinal film is a mosaic of six stories whose protagonists have decided to set their own partnership boundaries.

This documentary shows how love can take many forms. The attitudes of the main characters overturn the idea that a long-term monogamous relationship is the only possible form of togetherness. For many of the protagonists, polyamory, an open marriage, or a long-term love affair represent a fulfilling lifestyle, while coping with society’s misunderstanding as well as conflicts within their relationships. The director herself actively participates in the documentary as a voice from the outside, who openly asks questions revealing the joys, but also the worries of what it means to be with someone, but at the same time not to possess them.

The movie has been included in the program of this year's 25th edition of the One World Documentary Festival.
