The event was opened by H. E. Vladimir Války, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, who emphasized the personality of Jan Patočka, his international reputation and contribution to the defense of human rights and freedoms.

Ph.D. student of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bucharest, Mr. Iulian Apostolescu pointed out Patočka's contribution in the field of phenomenology, while the Consul of the Embassy presented the life and work of the philosopher and, together with Mircea Duţă, a well known bohemist, launched the Romanian translation of the book by the Czech author Ivan Dubský "The philosopher Jan Patočka" and read a few fragments.

Finally, the guest of honor, the prominent Romanianist Jiří Felix, as a close relative of Patočka (his mother was Patočka's cousin), presented some moments from the life of the philosopher.
