The President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Romania from 21 to 23 November

From 21 to 23 November, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, paid an official visit to Romania at the invitation of the Romanian Senate President Nicolae Ciuca. President Vystrčil was accompanied by Senators Adéla Šípová, Petr Štěpánek and Miroslav Adámek.

In Bucharest, they met with the President of the Senate, Nicolae Ciuca, and the Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lucian Bode. The topics of the meeting were the strengthening of parliamentary and economic cooperation and the maintenance of security dialogue. President Vystrčil expressed the Czech Republic's support for Romania's accession to the Schengen area and the OECD and thanked the Romanian state for its support for the Czech compatriot community in Romania. He expressed the hope that soon the Czech minority would have its own entity that would be independently supported.
The delegation also held talks with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, Defence Minister Angel Tilvar, Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu and Environment Minister Mircea Fechet. 

As part of the visit, a Czech-Romanian business forum was held in the premises of the Czech Embassy in Bucharest with the participation of Czech companies that accompanied the President on his business trip to Romania as a business delegation. The business forum was jointly greeted by the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, M. Vystrčil, and the President of the Senate of Romania, N. Ciuca. President Vystrčil also debated with the Director of the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Center, Ovidio Raetchi, and Vice President Adrian-Ion Duţa on the current security issues in the region.

During the trip, the President and the delegation also met with Czech community and saw the photographic exhibition "Pospolitosti" by Roman France at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant.

On the third day of the working visit, President Vystrčil and the delegation spent the day in the port city of Constanta, where they held talks with the Deputy President of the Romanian Senate, Sorin Cimpeanu, and visited the Mihail Kogalniceanu military base. They paid tribute to the fallen Czech legionnaires in Medjidia, where a commemorative ceremony was held.
